In 2004, Kathy Hecht was elected to her position of Athens City Auditor after spending two years on Athens City Council. She has been a resident of the Athens area for over 40 years and has been active in the community, serving on numerous boards and volunteering for a variety of groups and charitable agencies throughout the years. Kathy is currently the chair of the Athens Area Stand Down Committee and an officer in both the American Legion and VFW auxiliaries.
Auditor Hecht is a board member and past president of the Ohio Municipal Finance Officers Association. The City of Athens, through her office, has been the recipient of the OHIO AUDITOR OF STATE AWARD for several years. This award is presented for exemplary financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). She is also a member of the Ohio Government Finance Officers Association and the Chamber of Commerce.

Kathy's involvement with various agencies and groups, both personal and professional, throughout the years demonstrates her commitment to the community and gives her the experience and understanding to manage the Athens City Auditor's Office effectively and efficiently.
